Wycliffe College - Gloucs
What is Wycliffe College like?
Founded in 1882, Wycliffe College is set within its own 50 acre campus. Pupils at Wycliffe College enjoy life in a safe and stunning countryside campus set over 52-acres on the outskirts of Stonehouse in Gloucestershire, just 90 minutes from London. The school successfully blends the traditional and the modern, not only with its striking architecture but also with its broad curriculum and forward-thinking ethos. Wycliffe is a pupil-centric environment where individuality is encouraged and respected. It fosters a pioneering spirit, developing independence in every pupil’s approach to learning and life.
With small classes and a high pupil to teacher ratio, Wycliffe gives highly personalised attention to the learning of each child. Learning beyond the classroom is also core to a child’s development. The extra curricular provision at Wycliffe is wide-reaching and all-encompassing – with something for every child. Sport and the Arts play a major role in life at the school.
In the last five years, eighteen million pounds have been spent on teaching, accommodation, ICT and sports facilities; and all boarding houses have been recently refurbished in line with modern boarding expectations. Every pupil is supported to achieve academic excellence, with excellent results at GCSE, A Level and BTEC. There are 28 subjects available in the Sixth Form including Japanese, Psychology, Film Studies, Computer Science and Economics A Levels, BTecs in Digital Production, Business and Sport, as well as the popular Extended Project Qualification.
Wycliffe is the SAT and ACT centre for the South West and offers SAT and ACT preparation alongside Oxbridge. Wycliffe offers an one year GCSE programme, which has been designed for international pupils who study a broad range of subjects including English, Maths and Sciences as GCSEs. They also receive an introduction to many A Level subjects whilst improving their skills in English Language. Pupils integrate fully in house, sporting, artistic and social activities.
There are cats and dogs in a few of the boarding houses but no farm on site.
