Gordonstoun School - Morayshire

Elgin, Morayshire, IV30 5RF, United Kingdom

What is Gordonstoun School like?

Set in a beautiful 200 acre woodland campus, Gordonstoun is one of the most well known boarding schools in the UK, if not the world, and the former school of King Charles III. The school is situated on the coast of Scotland and makes the most of all the opportunities this area offers for outdoor adventure. The motto of the school is 'There is More in You' and a Gordonstoun education seeks to bring out the talents and passions of each child. The school was founded by the inspirational educationalist, Kurt Hahn, and the school really does offer something special with a unique blend of outdoor activities, internationalism and service. Every student is a member of a service, including lifeguards and firefighters who guide them as they work within the local community. Academics are combined with exceptional opportunities for art, music and drama. Gordonstoun is proud to be one of the original pioneers of a 'holistic education'.

Would Gordonstoun School be a good fit for my child?

Considered to be one of the best private schools in Scotland, Gordonstoun is a home from home for over 500 children and young people who live and thrive in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. Our pastoral staff are always there for students, whatever the issue, whatever the time. A broad curriculum broadens not only minds but opportunities too; a belief that’s served Gordonstoun and it's pupils for over 80 years and has made them the world leader in character education. The broad curriculum they offer helps every child to achieve their full potential. One of Gordonstoun's fundamental aims is to give students a global perspective. It starts when they join a culturally diverse community of students from over forty nationalities. Internationalism is reinforced through the academic curriculum which includes a specially designed course in International and Spiritual Citizenship (ISC). This course covers topics such as spiritual development, health education, environmental issues and life skills in an international context. Working with classmates from different backgrounds and values, helps students develop acceptance, understanding and tolerance. Additionally, there are many opportunities for senior students to experience life abroad either through Round Square, international exchange or international service projects.
