We are being asked this question all the time, and the short answer is "not really". This comes as a surprise for many, but we have identified the following reasons why demand for private education in the UK remains as high as ever:
i) Whilst some families have seen a downturn in their income and wealth, education is usually one of the last investments they are prepared to sacrifice.
ii) For struggling families, British private schools have been quick to step in and offer financial support to those who need it. Schools have shown a great commitment to not "lose" the students who form an essential part of their community.
iii) Thanks to their incredible online provision during lockdown, private schools are reporting an upturn in domestic demand from state school families, many of whom have suffered from a comparatively poor remote-learning experience during this time.
iv) International demand also remains high, with overseas families seeking stability and continuity for their children's long term education.
The situation for 6th form applications therefore remains as it always has been: Competition for places is high, and you need to make sure you are applying for the best-fitting schools.
