Depending on what stage you are at in the process, you may well have received disappointing, and sometimes surprising, news in response to your school applications.

If your child has failed an entry test or interview, it is first most important to make sure they know this is not their fault – a lot of schools are highly selective and will have over 5 applicants for each available space. Many of these applicants will have been receiving specialist tuition in one of the UK’s leading prep schools, and some of the elite British senior schools take over 90% of their students from such prep schools.

It is better to appreciate that there is now an opportunity to reassess and find the best-fitting school for your child.

It is not too late to reapply for other schools. Many of the top 100 co-ed boarding schools will still consider students if the fit is right. It is wise to begin strategising now, so you are in the best position by the time schools reassess their enrolments and offers in early 2018.
